Irregularities of the teeth is one of the earliest writings about dental deformities, written by Hippocrates in 400 BC. The history of orthodontics is fascinating. People have been concerned about how their teeth work and look since antiquity times. Although we may not be as interested in the history of orthodontics today, it helps to know the science has been around for a long time and continues to improve.
Ironically, despite all our modern advances, we are still concerned about irregular tooth growth and oral alignment. Fortunately, the practice of dentistry has evolved to produce orthodontic specialists who can competently handle this type of disorder in children and adults to realign teeth for health and appearance. Anyone looking for an orthodontist will be glad to know that their irregular teeth can be straightened in a reasonably convenient and affordable way. In fact, a licensed orthodontist can treat other related issues as well, including ingrown teeth or protruding teeth.
Retainers are a common treatment provided by orthodontic specialists. Children as well as adults may need retainers to hold realigned teeth in place. Whether temporary or permanent, this treatment is increasingly common today. Braces for kids and teens are on the rise as the treatment becomes more popular and affordable. It is also more convenient than ever before, with certain kinds of braces almost invisible to the casual observer. Anyone whose children have uneven teeth should not hesitate to call an orthodontist for information about braces for kids and teens.
