Orthodontic Fact #10
The first ever certified orthodontist in the United States is Dr. Charles Tweed from the late 18th century.
Have you ever imagined life without the possibility of enhancing your smile or correcting dental imperfections? Believe it or not, the history of orthodontics included limited knowledge of tooth structure. Thankfully, since the emergence of the first ever certified orthodontist in the U.S., Dr. Charles Tweed, orthodontic procedures are widely available and affordable.
Why Visit an Orthodontist
Investing in orthodontic care is an often overlooked, but proactive form of dental care. By spotting trouble areas early, orthodontists can develop a plan to eliminate issues that may later become major. Thus, by seeking help from an orthodontist early, patients can save money and time in costly resultant procedures.
From traditional metal braces to invisible “clear” tooth correction products, patients now have access to a wide array of orthodontic procedures. For many patients, the appearance of braces has been an issue of concern. Yet, with the introduction of Invisalign, and it’s rapid growth in popularity, many patients can now afford dental braces that are virtually undetectable.
For patients who are younger or may not be as sensitive about the appearance of braces, rubber bands that are used to hold the wires in place may be personalized and changed at regular maintenance appointments. In generating some control over this orthodontic process, getting braces for kids and teens can be a memorable experience.
